Specifics of Proving the Crime of Genocide: Prosecutors’ Training in Kyiv
On May 19–20, 2025, the Prosecutor Training Center of Ukraine hosted an offline training titled “Specifics of Proving the Crime of Genocide”, which brought together Ukrainian prosecutors responsible for investigating genocide, war crimes, and other serious violations of international law. Anna Vyshniakova, Head of the NGO LingvaLexa and an international criminal law expert, participated in the training as a speaker. Over the course of two intensive days, participants:
- examined the legal criteria for physical and biological destruction of protected groups;
- explored the concept of genocidal intent and methods for proving it;
- studied the rhetoric of incitement to genocide and approaches to its documentation;
- discussed national and international practices for evidence collection;
- received practical tools for conducting investigations within the Ukrainian criminal procedure framework.
Kateryna Rashevska, legal expert at the Regional Center for Human Rights, also served as a trainer. The event was moderated by Yana Loman, expert of the analytical division at the Prosecutor Training Center of Ukraine. The LingvaLexa team sincerely thanks the Regional Center for Human Rights and the Prosecutor Training Center of Ukraine for their continued professional and values-driven cooperation. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that bring us closer to justice, strengthen the capacity to document the truth, and counter impunity for the most serious crimes.
